2 weeks!
Our little man is half way to 1 month! Yesterday I took him to see his pediatrician and he is up to 7lbs 15oz! The goal was to get him back up to his birth weight (7lbs 2oz) and he surpassed that by a lot! Especially since he lost some weight after birth, which is pretty normal for breastfeed babies. Babies start to gain weight once there mom's milk has come in which is usually around day 5.
Week 2 has been so much better then week one. I have so much more energy (thank you iron pills) and we seem to be getting into somewhat of a routine. Cole has been amazing, after talking to his doctor about Cole she told me we have it pretty good so far! Since being home he has had one bad afternoon and one bad night, I feel so blessed. My biggest challenge has been breast feeding, I have worried a lot about Cole not getting enough milk. I have cried a couple times about it but now that I know he's gaining weight...it's a huge relief!
Here is what life is like for Cole:
*He loves having his hands by his face (well all over his face).
*He grunts when he's falling asleep, and squeals in his sleep.
*He likes it when I sing or talk...he just stares right at me.
*He sleeps every night in his bassinet right by my bedside.
*He's a great eater, breast or pumped breast milk. He takes both like a champ!
*He's awake about 6 hrs. total a day. Some in the morning, some in the afternoon and usually around dinner time. Otherwise he's sleeping or feeding.
*He is a really good sleeper at night, he now sleeps for around 3 hours at a time, then I hear some grunts, I WAKE Cam up to change him then I feed him the boobs.
*He always sleeps with both his arms up around his head.
*He has amazing neck strengh already, he has lifted and turned his all way from one side to the other!
*He will look at us in the face and stare at us.
*He seems to not like it when Cam gives him kisses on the face ...scrunches his face in dislike. It's pretty funny.
Here is what life is like for me;
*I breastfeed him every 2 to 2.5 hours during the day, thanks to my dysfunctional nipples I have to use a breast shield. Thankfully it seems to be working fine and he's getting enough milk! I completely understimed how much work it is to breastfeed, but worth it knowing he's getting what's best for him now.
*I want my old boobs back...these E cups or whatever size they are ...are awful!
*Showers are heaven.
*I try to get dressed everyday ...even if I'm not leaving the house. It always makes me feel better.
*I have lost a total of 20 lbs in 2 weeks! Thanks to my shrinking uterus, fluid loss, Brest feeding and hot flashes like a 55 year old women going through menopause. Sad part is i have another 25 to go...
*Turns out I only need about 5 or 6 hrs total of sleep to feel fine.
*Wine tastes better then I remember.
*Every time I see a mom, I want to just walk up to her and buy her a spa day or something. Seriously, Mother's Day is not enough.
We seem to all be taking things in stride and adjusting to this new life. Cam is amazing with Cole and I'm so thankful I have such a loving and thoughtful husband. It can be very trying on us and easy to get frustrated with each other but we never let it get the best of us. So here's to things getting easier with each week...and loving each moment with our little man.
Week 2 in pictures...he looks different every day!

Newborn Shoot!
We had Kristin Staples come out to our house this past Wednesday for a newborn shoot of our little man. I really didn't know what to expect, my fear was Cole would not want to be doing a full photo shoot at a mere 9 days old and would cry his eyes out. Thankfully this was not the case! The trick to getting him to corporate is to turn the house up to 80 degrees, fill his belly and get him naked! It also helped that Kristin is the baby whisper, she showed off her skills in moving a sleeping baby to any position all awhile taking amazing pictures. She had so many different props and hats it really takes a lot of patience's and skill do what she does! Cole really showed what an amazing baby he has been in his short time here, he really only cries when he's hungry, tired or needs his diaper changed. Man I really hope I didn't just jinx us!
Anyway I'm so glad we decided to get these shots of Cole, the few I have seen surpass my expectations! I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures! Here's a link and sneak peak to Cole's shoot, Sweet Little Man.
Here's a few of my favorites...oh hell I love them all!!!
