Cartoon Cuts
I suppose it was inevitable that one day Cole would have to get a haircut, I just wasn't ready to see my baby's hair get chopped off. So I kept putting it off till this past weekend.
Pre-Haircut

We headed over to Cartoon Cuts for the eventful chop. Turns out I wasn't the only one upset with idea of Cole getting a haircut.
OK this isn't to bad I'll just sit and play with this remote

Lady what do you think your doing with those scissors...

Mommy stop taking pictures and save me from this haircut!

I hate this!!!

Is it over yet?!?

Thankfully the lady worked fast and we got out of there without a major breakdown.I scooped up a few pieces of his hair to keep and after a few hours I had really warmed up to little man's new do. He's looking so grown up it's killing me!

Hives Suck

So let me rewind about 2 weeks and explain how we got where we are today. Cole had his one year checkup where received his vaccinations, one especially big one the MMR for the measles. The doctor explained to me that there was a small chance that Cole could get a rash from the MMR shot about 10 days from then but don’t be alarmed it will go away. At the checkup we found out Cole’s had an ear infection which I was clueless about because Cole showed no signs of discomfort. She prescribed an amoxicillin for Cole to take for 10 days while there the doctor also gave me the thumbs up to start full force on milk starting that day!
Ok so three things to remember…MMR shot, Amoxicillin for his ear infection and the start of cow’s milk. Everything was going smoothly till day 8…I got a call from his sitter telling me that Cole seemed to have a rash all over his body that just appeared after his afternoon nap. She assured me he was in no pain and maybe it was a heat rash from being at the pool earlier that day. When I picked him up that afternoon it looked like a heat rash but maybe it was the MMR shot? It really didn’t seem to be bothering Cole so I decided to wait till morning to call his doctor.
The next morning I went in to get Cole from his crib and was a little taken back at how bad the rash looked. It was EVERYWHERE. And it was redder and raised. This can’t be from the shot? Could it? I called the doctor right away and they told me to come in asap it was either the MMR shot or he was having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin.
Well that rash turned out to be HIVES, he was having an allergic reaction. Unfortunately were not sure what he is allergic to just yet. He is off the Amoxicillin but it’s takes time till its out of his system and he’s off milk just to be careful. So now we wait…close to 10 days out and poor guy still has hives. Thankfully he’s pretty resilient and doesn’t seemed to bothered by them. I’m not sure which is worse being allergic to penicillin or milk? I’m thinking milk.

National Aquarium
Yesterday we went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore thanks to Hub's work. His work has a company membership at the Aquarium which they give there employees 4 free passes for designated weekends through out the year. We decided to go on Sunday hoping it would mean less crowds but no dice. We tried our best to navigate around the crowds and give Cole some up close views of the fishes. Cole seemed to enjoy the big tank toward the end the most, which was always a favorite of mine growing up too. I will say that when we do go back it will have to be during the week...it's just not worth fighting the crowds.
All pictures from our day were taken with Hubs IPhone...I'm loving Instagram.

Cole's 1st Birthday Party!
I'm days and days behind on posting about Cole's birthday party, but I have been so crazy busy with work and Cole having an allergic reaction to penicillin (yea sucks) blogging has taken the hit.
When I started planning Cole's birthday party I knew I wanted to keep it as laid back as possible and not to many people. I mean really he's only one and had no idea what a birthday party means! But as any mother finds out it can be overwhelming not to get a little wrapped up in planning the big first birthday party! We ended up having a little over 40 people, I had stressed about it being to many people but everything worked out great. Picking the Mickey Mouse Theme was the easy part,I spent the weeks before putting together decorations like the birthday banner, door sign, making the cupcake toppers, gift bags, stickers for the cups (matched the cupcake toppers) and figuring out foods that where both kid and adult friendly. I got lots of my inspiration from Etsy. I ended up doing all the decorations myself except Cole's birthday shirt that was an iron on I found on Etsy.

I went with pulled pork, chick-fil-a nuggets, hot dogs, cheese and crackers and many more yummy foods. I made sure to hade more then enough sweets, with Mickey Mouse rice crispy treats, cupcakes, pretzels dipped in white chocolate and m&ms.
We set up a designated play area with a sand and water table and an awesome play hut/tent both gifts Cole received for his bday (thanks Aunt Coco and GG). We made sure to keep it simple for the adults with a variety of beer and the ever popular ladder ball.
Cole seemed to really enjoy himself with all his little friends! He did seem pretty confused when everyone sang him happy birthday but after a bit of coaxing he really enjoyed his smash cake!

I couldn't have done it all without the help of my mom, mother-in law, sister and of course my hubby. We had an amazing time and I'm so glad to have shared it with so many wonderful family and friends. But I have to say I was exhausted when it was all over... I'm so glad it only happens once a year! :)
