Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend is an amazing weekend. Celebrate our freedom and give thanks to all of those who have made it possible. My family usually chooses to celebrate with lots of food, friends, pool and beer. This year didn't disappoint. Hubs and me even took off Friday so we could spend even more time with our little family of three.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that in the four nights off  for memorial day weekend i had a cheeseburger 3 of the nights. Holy Red Meat! But what can i say with so many cookouts it was bound to happen. I love meat. Ha that sounds weird. We got to feast on some amazing crabs with our favorite next door neighbors, watch Cole giggle for a good 20 minutes upon entering the baby pool and enjoy some adult beverages. It was just my kinda of weekend! However, I do feel like a need a long weekend off from my long weekend off.

I wish I had taken more photos but I did get a few of the kids playing and eating out back.

Color Cubes

With Summer quickly approaching and the warm weather that seems to have been around since umm March. I figured it was about time to try out some of the fun water activities I have seen on Pinterest. Color Cubes. Yep super easy just put a little food coloring into your ice cube tray add some water of course and wait for it freeze. I filled a few larger tuber wear bowls with water and then left the rest up to Cole.

He started by separating the colors into different bowls but by the end he had mixed up all the colors. Which left a lot of green water. I’m a novice when it comes to dealing with food coloring. It got a little messy. But that was the best part.

Once the cubes had melted I told him he could bring the water over to his water table and play with the green water. He’s eyes just lit up and he proclaimed “I’m Strong” and took each bowl over. Some made it to the table some didn't but he loved every second of it.

And I’m happy to report that after his bath that night all traces of food coloring had disappeared from his hands. Will definitely be doing this one again this summer with more colors !

Mother’s Day Weekend

It was a wonderful weekend. It included hot air balloons, shopping, dinner out with friends and running through a sprinkler with my little man.

We kicked off the weekend going to the Preakness Hot Air Balloon Festival. It was a first for all of us, Cole loved it! I’m not sure I would call it a festival,  it consisted of food, 20 hot air balloons and a huge field that gave Cole full range to run around all night. It couldn’t have been a prettier night for it all . It was such a chill atmosphere which was a bit of an adjustment for Hubs and me. But after some adult beverages we embraced it and really enjoyed ourselves. Cole is still talking about it, he’s favorite was the Purple Monster Balloon.

I hate to admit I didn’t take one picture on Sunday. We spent the day over on the Eastern Shore at the Outlets. The place was deserted I guess taking Mama to shop on Mother’s day isn’t very popular …for me it was a very welcome treat. The day ended over at my parents with my in-laws joining us for dinner. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!

This is the only picture I have of Cole and Me from the
weekend..fail. ha

What's Important to Me

Well I’m slacking at blogging again. I think it’s the warm weather. The travel for work and fun. The crazy toddler I have that keeps me on my feet at all times. Or it’s my obsession with Fifty Shades. I seriously have so many things I meant to blog about but time slipped by. Let me try a little catch up.

I’m a working mom. I try my hardest to always leave work at work. My time home with Cole is very precious and its important to always make the best of it. I think sometimes I go over and above on outings with him because I’m trying to make up for the time I miss. I put off errands or chores around the house every week because that extra hour at the park with him is more important.

On this particular day I had a million things to do …conference calls to prepare for, laundry up to my eyes, zero things prepared for dinner. You know the list that never ends. But my little man only wanted to be outside. Running. Animals mama? He said over and over. His big blue eyes looking up at me. And suddenly nothing else mattered.
We went to see the animals, we had a picnic, we ran up and down the hill, we played in the tree.

Being a working mom isn’t impossible. Yes it can be a juggling act. And I would be lying if I didn’t say I get a LOT of help. I just have to remind myself  that its OK if everything on the to do list isn’t done. There’s always tomorrow. Today I will spend time with my son.
