So Very Thankful!

Thanksgiving consisted of lots of food and football. We spent the day with both our families which meant 2 turkey dinners. Like I said lots of food. I consumed so many mashed potatoes I could barely button my pants that night. Sad but true.

Is it me or does he look like he's 3 in this picture?

Cam and his Dad...all ready for the game!

It was unseasonably warm this year so we ventured outside to burn some of that food off.

We played some football with the little guy. He loved slamming the football to the ground and doing a dance. Future football player?!?

Cole got to spend some much needed time with his Aunt Brooke who lives out west. I love this picture of the two of them.

Christmas Wreath

Since Pinterst is taking over the world these days I'm sure many of you have seen the oh so special ornament wreath. So pretty. But how easy is this little project?! I'm not exactly a crafty person so difficulty needed to be close to beginner level for me.

I kept it simple and cheap. One large wire hanger from the closet. 8 packages of shatterproof ornaments from the dollar store. And a borrowed glue gun from my mom.

Take the wire hanger and twist it into a circle. It doesn't have to be perfect. Then untwist the top open so you can slip the ornaments on easily. Like so...

Make sure to alternate the size and color while putting on the ornaments. The glue gun came in handy in securing the metal cap on the bulb to make sure they didn't fall off. But to tell you the truth I only did this with the first few ornaments then realized that it really wasn't necessary. The ornaments were staying on without the glue.

I couldn't believe how many bulbs it took. 83. My little helper started to get loopy...

Me too ...

All in all it took about 30 minutes to get all the bulbs on. To secure the top I used pliers to bend the wire to make sure it stayed together.

I think it turned out pretty good. Super Easy. And it only cost me $8! Win.

His Aunt Coco

Cole loves his Aunt Coco.

112011 017 (2)

My sister came to visit this past weekend. It had been about a months since Cole had seen her. But the second he saw her he shouted "CoCo". It was priceless. And it melted my heart and my sisters. The boy surprises me on a daily basis.

Moments

It was one of those amazing fall days when the air is crisp and the sun is shining. We ventured outside to tackle the abundance of leaves that had fallen over the past few weeks. Any normal day I would have left the leaf cleaning up to Hubs but as I raked away I felt my blood start flowing. Ah fall..I heart you. I watched as Cole tried to help gather the leaves in a pile just like his daddy. "Help" he shouted as he placed one leaf after another into the pile.My heart grew warm as I watched my boys together. This moment. I want to remember this moment.

It's easy to take these moments for granted when life gets a little to busy. I feel blessed for my little family of three. So very blessed.

Save UMD Swimming

Around age 6 I stepped on to a swimming block at my community swim meet ready to race to the other side. When i finished I turned to my mom and asked if I had won, she kindly replied "no dear, you placed 3rd". My mom then explained to me that to be a good swimmer you had to practice hard. That is the day a competitor was born...I practiced that whole week. And wouldn't you know it at the very next swim meet...I won! Swimming played a huge role in my life. I was a college athlete at NC State. I just can't imagine to not have gotten the chance to be apart of that during college. I learned so much from swimming and made lifetime friends .Right now UMD who is in also in the ACC conference are fighting to save there team.It breaks my heart to see this happening due to budget issues. I really hope this is not a trend of what's to come, it would be awful for all those 6 year old kids like me out there that would never get a chance to be apart of something so wonderful.

Tis the Season

So I wanted to get a head start on the whole Christmas card thing and thought why not head over to Kinder Farm to take some pictures. While I got some cute pictures they weren't really "Christmas" like.

I really need to learn how to use my camera better, action shots are hard for me. Lots of them turned out blurry. I would LOVE to take a photography class to learn some tips but where in the world would I find the time?!?

I did finally pick a picture for our Christmas card and they are being shipped to me as we speak! I can't wait to see them!

Kitchen Time!

Every Tuesday Cole attends Story time at a local boutique toy store.  After story time they have Toys set up that the kids can play with. My nanny says EVERY TIME Cole is there he goes straight for the kitchen. He loves to pretend he's cooking something up on the burners.

Here a few shots she sent me of him cooking

The hubs has had resevations about buying Cole a kitchen set because it's "girly". My response is really dude? It's not like I'm trying to buy an all pink kitchen and wrap an apron around the boy! After showing Hubs that I wasn't pushing my "girly" perspective on Cole and that there are some pretty awesome pretend kitchens out there he has agreed to it! So come Christmas morning Cole will be cooking up a storm!

Here is my top choice

First because i love Melissa & Doug products. Second because it won't take up to much room in the playroom. And third because you can buy Melissa& Doug food at Michaels...hello 40% off coupons!

RAVENS!

ravens win
(Picture - espn.com)

Last night was awesome. My beloved RAVENS pulled off a last minute drive to BEAT the Steelers! Here is how the last 2minutes went down in my house watching the final drive….

Me: "I can’t watch this I’m going to be sick" (sitting on the couch with hands over my eyes)
Cam:" Sarah he (Flacco) is actually moving the ball down the field"
Me: ( I look up to see Flacco throw two perfect passes but are dropped by his receivers) "I’m going to bed!" Cam: "They better do this I have to watch..."

As Cam sits on the couch in our bedroom I walk over to the bed protesting this game. But I can’t look away I watch the last play of the game from our bed. Flacco with 8 seconds left makes an incredible throw to Torrey Smith for the TD and win!

The next 10 seconds was a blur of pure ecstasy. Cam runs over to the bed I’m already jumping up and down and leap into his arms screaming with excitment! Yes we are die hard fans and folks it just doesn’t get better than last night’s game! Our celebration may have been a bit too loud... for Cole was shortly woken up by all the commotion. Oops.

I’m not even upset it’s Monday and I had only 5 hours of sleep. All worth it.

Where's the Candy?

This is way to funny not to share. My friend Courtenay sent this to me this morning. Jimmy Kimmel had parents video tape their kids after telling them they ate all of their Halloween candy. The last two kids are Hilarous! Happy Friday!

Trick or Treat

I wasn't sure what to expect since Cole is really to young to understand what's going on and well eating candy isn't really the best thing for a toddler.  We met up with our neighbors the Butlers and headed out to a few houses around the neighborhood. Reese lead the way as an adorable Lady Bug while the boys seemed very content riding along in the wagon. Once we hit our street we let the boys walk up to a few houses. They seemed a bit confused why people were all dressed up but seemed to enjoy being outside past dinner time.  I can't wait till next year when these boys are running up with Reese to each house !
