Toddler Time

Well we survived the hurricane. We really lucked out and didn’t lose power like most of our town. We did however lose cable and Internet…Womp Womp. So blogging will be limited until Comcast gets their act together and we are back up and running.

Saturday before the brunt of the storm hit us we headed out to the mall to let Cole burn off some energy and wonder around. I have discovered that my son no longer wants to be held nor sit in a stroller. He must walk. So we walked the mall at a snail’s pace while he swayed his arms back in forth enjoying his new found freedom. I dared to pick him up once to avoid impending crowds approaching but learned my lesson quickly….he kicked and squirmed till he was set back down. Seriously?! How quickly life changes. I know nothing about raising a toddler. My strong willed independent little man and me have a lot to learn. While this new phase is exciting it's also a little terrifying.

Mother Nature

First an earthquake, now a hurricane seems to be headed right in our direction. This weekend will be spent inside with hopes of no flooding and no loss of power. There will be lots of movie time, cuddling on the couch and endless reading of "Ten Little Ladybugs" . Not familiar with it?!? Cole asks us to read it to him about 100 times a day. Oh the fun we are going to have! ha

What we have to stay inside all weekend long?!?!

I feel your pain buddy....

Hometown Love

This is why I live here ...

I'm that girl.I didn't venture far from where I started. I drive down the same roads I did when I was 16 years old. My son has dipped his feet into the same water I played in growing up.I live within a mile from my childhood home. And I really can't imagine it any other way. I love this place.

Sure I have spent time in other places but my heart yearned to be back home. I'm blessed that Hubs feels the same way. Life on the water is the only way. We dream of the day we walk out our own back porch and see water. One day we will.

Cole got a chance to spend some time with his old sitter and her son this week. Kristen watched Cole from 3 months old till right after he's first birthday. He LOVES her! We got to enjoy some amazing weather and watch the boys enjoy some playtime.

River House Fun

river1

This past weekend we headed south to Deltaville, VA which sits right on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. My brother in law’s family has a house there and we couldn’t pass up a chance to enjoy some good old family time. It included fishing off the pier, catching fresh crabs for dinner, ladder ball and dips into the River.
I have actually have never fished a day in my life so I gave it a whirl...

Who knew I could be so excited about catching a fish, but I’m really a catch and release kinda girl . About 2 seconds after this picture was taken I begged my sister to get that fish back in the water. Ha

We all enjoyed playing in the water. And doing a little kayaking.

But it wasn’t fun and games for all. I mean it is a river. Its August and the water is warm. This means Jelly Fish. And wouldn’t you know it….Poor Cole was the one to get stung.

He really handled it well. A few tears. But after we drenched the Sting in Vinegar (thank god for IPhones) all was right again. And the rash was gone by the time he woke up from his afternoon nap.

The rain rolled in late in the afternoon right before we enjoyed the fresh crabs we had caught off the pier. It was awesome sitting underneath the covered patio watching the rain coming down, eating crabs and drinking some delicious beers.

Before we hit the road Sunday we attempted a family picture.

I would have to say it was a great big FAIL. But entertaining to say the least.

You can just feel summer coming to an end and I’m so grateful we got to spend time with my Sister, Bro In law and of course GG and Poppy.

Holy Molars

Yesterday was an off day. Cole just wasn’t himself. This kid has the worse luck with teeth. When they come in they come in multiples. He currently has two molars coming in and its causing major pain. Poor guy has a runny nose, won’t eat and wants to be held at all times. Going to the bathroom or changing clothes posed to be a huge challenge for me. I seem to have mastered the one arm pull down/pull up while holding a crying toddler. Who knew this could cause such pain, another surprise to this first time mom! I suppose this is because with all other teeth Cole has gotten it hasn’t caused to much trouble. Well last night he woke up 3 times. I don’t think he’s done that since he was 2 months old. I cave very quickly when I hear him screaming at night…I immediately bring him to our bed. So last night was no different but instead of us all going to sleep Cole wanted to play. Yes play. At 12am with my eyes shut laying in bed, Cole is there drumming on my head while kicking his legs into my stomach. I pleaded with him to go to sleep, he lays down for 5 minutes then pops up again to play. I waited 15 more minutes… making sure enough time had gone by for the Tylenol to kick in and toted him back to his crib. He screamed for a good 5 minutes before he drifted off to sleep for the rest of the night. I really hope these molars make their way through because I’m seriously dragging through my morning emails….

Be Careful What You Wish For

OK so like any first time mom I was beyond eager to see Cole take his first steps. I loved watching him pull up and surf all the furniture but after 3 months of doing that I wanted to see some walking! I know each child does it on there own time and you can't push them so we didn't we just patiently waited. Well we have a walker now and I'm wondering what I was in such a hurry for! Don't get me wrong watching him walk is still pretty cute but now with his new freedom he's become a bit outspoken with what he wants.

Here he is doing some walking....

With all this walking now he seems to want nothing more then to go outside. I get to hear OUT about 20 times a day and if I don't take him out he brings out the tears. Oh man o man he's turned into a toddler over night. Heaven help me.

Trying to beat the Heat

This past weekend was so stinking Hot and Humid it was tough to find something to do for little man and us. We pulled out the sprinkler and the water table to try and keep him cool and busy. He was a little nervous at first with the shooting water and wanted me to hold his hand (and get all wet as well) but in the end he embraced it and loved being in the water. I can't believe I'm saying it but I'm so ready for fall to get here!
